Acres Reveals "Bloodlust" as First Single From Upcoming Album "The Host"
Acres, the UK-based post-hardcore band, has unveiled their explosive new single "Bloodlust" on February 28, 2025, marking the first release from their anticipated third studio album "The Host". The track exemplifies the band's signature blend of emotive metalcore, masterfully weaving melodic hardcore elements with raw emotional intensity. "Bloodlust" showcases a mix of synthy melodics, spine-chilling riffs, and thunderous percussion, effectively capturing the essence of Acres' sound.
The upcoming album "The Host" is set for release on May 2, 2025, via Tooth & Nail/Solid State Records. This new record represents a bold step in a new direction for Acres, as they continue to push themselves to evolve with each album. The band's vocalist, Ben Lumber, explains that working with The Plot In You's frontman Landon Tewers as producer brought a fresh perspective and added a new flair to their sound.
Acres' musical journey began in 2012 with their self-titled EP, followed by their debut album "Lonely World" in 2019, which garnered significant fan appreciation. Their sophomore effort, "Burning Throne," released in 2023, further solidified their position in the post-hardcore scene. The band's sound has evolved over the years, drawing influences from various genres and artists, including post-rock, metal, and bands like A Hope For Home, Devil Sold His Soul, and Underoath.
The lyrics of "Bloodlust" delve into the theme of addiction, with Lumber describing it as "a track about a toxic relationship between you and addiction, we call The Host". This theme sets the tone for the album, offering a glimpse into the darker, more introspective direction of their new material.
Acres' lineup currently consists of Ben Lumber (vocals), Alex Freeman (guitars), Theo Sandberg (guitars), and Matthew Hiscock (drums). The band has experienced lineup changes over the years, which have contributed to their evolving sound and creative direction.
As Acres prepares for the release of "The Host," they are also gearing up for a series of live performances across the US and UK in 2025, including shows with notable acts such as Beartooth, The Plot In You, and Holding Absence. These upcoming performances will provide fans with the opportunity to experience Acres' new material live, further cementing their reputation as a dynamic and emotionally charged live act.
