Avantasia Unveils "Avalon" From Latest Album "Here Be Dragons"

Avantasia, the German symphonic metal opera project led by Tobias Sammet, has unveiled their latest masterpiece, "Avalon", a compelling track from their tenth studio album "Here Be Dragons", released on February 28, 2025, through Napalm Records. The song weaves together dramatic orchestration and powerful metal elements, creating an enchanting exploration of mystical realms and personal transformation.

"Avalon" is characterized by its emotional and multifaceted vocal performances, showcasing Avantasia's ability to blend symphonic grandeur with intricate storytelling. This track is part of a diverse album that ranges from electrifying anthems to deeply emotive ballads, reinforcing Avantasia's status as a powerhouse in symphonic and power metal.

"Here Be Dragons" marks a new era for Avantasia, blending their classic grandeur with fresh sonic landscapes. The album features a lineup of world-class guest vocalists, including Michael Kiske, Jørn Lande, and Bob Catley, who have been long-time collaborators with the project. These guest appearances continue to breathe new life into the band's sound, contributing to the album's ambitious scope.

Tobias Sammet, the mastermind behind Avantasia, wrote and composed all ten tracks on the album, which was produced in collaboration with Sascha Paeth. The project has come a long way since its inception in 1999 as a studio-only, two-album venture. Over the past 25 years, Avantasia has released nine previous studio albums, achieved number-one chart positions, and garnered gold awards.

The band's musical background is deeply rooted in the power metal genre, with Sammet initially gaining recognition as the vocalist of Edguy. Avantasia has since evolved into a unique blend of symphonic rock and metal, characterized by its operatic style and conceptual albums. Their discography includes notable works such as "The Metal Opera" (2001), "The Scarecrow" (2008), and "Ghostlights" (2016).

"Here Be Dragons" continues Avantasia's tradition of creating cohesive and cinematic albums. The title track is described as a classic Avantasia song, spanning nearly nine minutes and showcasing the band's epic storytelling capabilities. Another standout track, "The Witch", features dark soundscapes that perfectly complement the song's narrative.

Avantasia's success extends beyond album sales, with the band having performed sold-out concerts worldwide, from Europe to Asia, Australia to North and Latin America. Following the release of "Here Be Dragons", Avantasia is set to embark on an extensive arena tour across Europe, promising fans their biggest and most epic production to date.
