Benediction Releases "Engines of War," First Single From Upcoming Album "Ravage of Empires"
Benediction, the British death metal legends, have unleashed their latest track "Engines of War" on February 6, 2025. This song serves as the lead single from their highly anticipated ninth studio album, "Ravage of Empires", set to be released on April 4, 2025, via Nuclear Blast Records.
The new song "Engines of War" showcases Benediction's signature blend of relentless riffs, punishing grooves, and the iconic growls of Dave Ingram, following his return to the band. The track was produced and engineered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio in Suffolk, England, known for his work with numerous metal acts.
"Engines of War" is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Martin Goltermann, bringing the song's apocalyptic themes to life. The visual representation complements the band's brutal sound, which has been a cornerstone of the death metal scene for over three decades.
Benediction's musical journey began with their debut album "Subconscious Terror" in 1990, followed by the critically acclaimed "Transcend the Rubicon" in 1993, often regarded as one of the most influential death metal releases. The band's lineup has evolved over the years, but founding guitarists Darren Brookes and Peter Rew have remained constant, providing the backbone of Benediction's sound.
"Ravage of Empires" follows the success of their 2020 comeback album "Scriptures", which marked the band's return after a long hiatus from releasing new material. The upcoming album promises to continue Benediction's legacy of delivering uncompromising old-school death metal, drawing inspiration from their earlier works while incorporating a modernized brutality.
The full tracklist for "Ravage of Empires" has been revealed, featuring eleven new songs that promise to showcase the band's evolution while staying true to their roots. Benediction's current lineup, consisting of Dave Ingram (vocals), Darren Brookes (guitar), Peter Rew (guitar), Giovanni Durst (drums), and Nik Sampson (bass), is set to bring these new tracks to life on stage.
In support of the new album, Benediction will embark on the "Tales of the Triple Death" European tour in April 2025, sharing the stage with Jungle Rot and Master. The band is also confirmed to appear at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Maryland Deathfest, further cementing their status in the global metal scene.
