Dead Icarus Unveils Debut Album with Title Track 'Zealot'
Dead Icarus has released their new track "Zealot" on October 31, 2024, as part of their debut album of the same name. The song, produced and co-written by guitarist Gabe Mangold, features Alex Varkatzas on vocals and Brandon Zackey on drums.
"Zealot" stands out for its unique edge and experimental approach, blending nu-metal influences with the band's distinctive style. The track explores themes of abandoning compromise and following one's internal compass, regardless of the consequences. This concept is visually represented in the music video, set in a haunted house, which emphasizes the song's eerie and unrestrained nature.
The title track marks a notable departure from the album's aggressive core, showcasing Dead Icarus' ability to create a dynamic, multi-faceted sound. It is described as the most out-of-the-box song on the record, highlighting the band's willingness to experiment with their musical approach.
Dead Icarus is a new project formed by Alex Varkatzas, former lead vocalist of Atreyu, along with Gabe Mangold from Enterprise Earth and drummer Brandon Zackey. The band's formation is rooted in the members' commitment to creating sincere and uncompromising music, with Varkatzas continuing to push the boundaries of metalcore following his influential tenure with Atreyu.
