Devin Townsend Unleashes High-Energy Anthem "Knuckledragger" on Upcoming Album "PowerNerd"
Devin Townsend's upcoming studio album "PowerNerd" is set to feature the high-energy track "Knuckledragger" when it releases on October 25, 2024, via Inside Out Music. The song is described as an "all-out, high-speed rampage" that showcases Townsend's signature 'wall of sound' production style.
"Knuckledragger" aligns with the album's overarching theme of transforming perceived weaknesses into personal strength and power. It stands as one of the more aggressive tracks on "PowerNerd," contrasting with softer offerings like the four-minute ballad "Dreams of Light" and the synth-laden "Younger Lover."
Townsend wrote the music for the entire album, including "Knuckledragger," in a mere 11 days. The album's artwork was created by longtime collaborator Travis Smith, maintaining a visual continuity with Townsend's previous works.
In support of his new music, Devin Townsend will be performing acoustic sets as the opening act for Myles Kennedy on a UK tour. The tour kicks off on November 25 at SWG3 in Glasgow, with subsequent shows in Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, and concluding on December 3 at O2 Forum Kentish Town in London.
Townsend's career spans multiple musical eras, including his leadership of Strapping Young Lad, his work with the Devin Townsend Project, and his collaboration in the country duo Casualties of Cool. "PowerNerd" marks the beginning of a new chapter in his diverse musical journey, promising a collection of songs each featuring a compelling hook at its core.
