Dream Theater Unveils "Midnight Messiah" from Upcoming Album "Parasomnia" Ahead of 40th Anniversary Tour
Progressive metal titans Dream Theater have released "Midnight Messiah," the third single from their highly anticipated sixteenth studio album, "Parasomnia," set to drop on February 7, 2025, via Inside Out Music/Sony Music. The song, which debuted on January 22, 2025, is part of an album exploring themes of disruptive sleep-related disturbances such as sleepwalking, sleep paralysis, and night terrors.
"Midnight Messiah" marks a significant milestone for the band, featuring Mike Portnoy's first lyrical contribution to a Dream Theater song since 2009. The track includes references to past Dream Theater songs, adding a layer of nostalgia for long-time fans. Portnoy commented, "DT fans may get a kick out of discovering some of the hidden nuggets I planted in the song referencing many of my past DT lyrics".
Accompanying the single release is a tour diary music video directed by Mike Leonard, featuring footage from multiple dates of their successful European leg of the 40th Anniversary Tour 2024. The video offers fans a glimpse into the band's recent live performances and the excitement surrounding their reunion.
