Dying Wish Unleashes New Single "I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair)"

Dying Wish, the Portland-based metalcore band, has released their latest single "I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair)" on February 27, 2025. This standalone track marks their first new music since their sophomore album "Symptoms of Survival," which was released in November 2023. The new single, produced by Will Putney, showcases the band's continued musical evolution while maintaining their signature sound.

Formed in 2018, Dying Wish consists of vocalist Emma Boster, guitarists Pedro Carrillo and Sam Reynolds, bassist Jon Mackey, and drummer Jeff Yambra. The band quickly gained recognition in the metalcore scene, blending elements of 2000s metalcore with modern hardcore influences. Their debut album, "Fragments of a Bitter Memory," was released in October 2021 via SharpTone Records, establishing them as a formidable force in the genre.

"I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair)" addresses the impact of global events on collective mental health. Emma Boster, the band's vocalist, explains that the song reflects on the constant exposure to brutality and injustices, and how it affects people's psychological well-being. The track serves as a precursor to their upcoming third studio album, with the band aiming to challenge themselves and create something different from their previous releases.

Dying Wish's music is characterized by its intense vocals, ranging from guttural screams to melodic cleans, coupled with aggressive instrumentation and deeply personal lyrics. The band draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including metalcore pioneers like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, as well as hardcore acts such as Have Heart and Hatebreed.

Throughout their career, Dying Wish has been known for their politically charged and socially conscious lyrics, addressing topics such as personal trauma, societal issues, and global conflicts. This approach is evident in their new single, which continues to explore themes of collective struggle and resilience in the face of adversity.
