Eric Bass of Shinedown Releases New Solo Track "Azalia"
Eric Bass, renowned for his role in the multi-platinum rock band Shinedown, has recently unveiled his latest single "Azalia" on December 13, 2024. This track is the second release from his highly anticipated debut solo album, "Eric Bass Presents: I Had A Name," which is scheduled to drop on February 28, 2025.
"I Had A Name" represents a significant departure from Bass's work with Shinedown, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. The album is a concept piece set within a sprawling new world, entirely written, recorded, and produced by Bass himself.
The newly released single "Azalia" introduces one of the two main protagonists in the album's narrative. Bass describes Azalia as "a former warrior monk who has thrown off her religion to become an assassin." The song portrays her on a perilous journey, fleeing from government forces while relying on her tenacity and innate abilities to survive.
Bass has revealed that the characters in his solo project represent different aspects of his personal journey with neurodivergence and mental health. This autobiographical element adds a layer of depth and authenticity to the music, making it a deeply personal venture for the artist.
With "Azalia" now available and generating buzz, fans are eagerly awaiting the full album release in just over two months. The project also includes an accompanying graphic novel, further expanding the rich narrative world Bass has created.
