Genus Ordinis Dei Unveils "Eternal Cycle" Featuring XANDRIA's Ambre Vourvahis

Italian symphonic death metal band Genus Ordinis Dei released their highly anticipated single "Eternal Cycle" on November 15, 2024, featuring a powerful collaboration with Ambre Vourvahis, the renowned vocalist from XANDRIA. This release marks a significant milestone for the band, showcasing their ability to blend their signature sound with guest performances from prominent figures in the metal scene.

Ambre Vourvahis's involvement in "Eternal Cycle" came about through a direct invitation from Genus Ordinis Dei. The collaboration process was smooth, with Vourvahis expressing enthusiasm for the project: "They contacted me asking me if I'd like to sing on a song they wrote where they thought I would be a great match. I've followed them for years as I genuinely love their music, so I was thrilled."

"Eternal Cycle" draws inspiration from Greek mythology, specifically the myth of Hades and Persephone. Vourvahis describes the song's theme: "It's inspired by the myth of Hades and Persephone, a story of love, loss, eternal rebirth. And the tension between light and darkness, power and surrender." This mythological backdrop provides a rich tapestry for the band's symphonic death metal sound.

The production process was streamlined, with Genus Ordinis Dei having completed the music and lyrics before Vourvahis's involvement. "Yes, they had the song and lyrics already finished so it was an easy process," Vourvahis noted, highlighting the band's clear vision for the track.

While Genus Ordinis Dei is known for their symphonic death metal style, "Eternal Cycle" seems to have struck a balance that complements Vourvahis's vocal abilities. She commented, "The song is actually right up my alley. It's fitting my voice very well, I'd say. And I love symphonic/melodic death metal, so I'm really glad to collaborate within this genre."
