Great American Ghost Unleashes "Echoes of War"
Boston-based hardcore outfit Great American Ghost has released their latest single "Echoes of War" on January 8, 2025, marking the final preview of their highly anticipated album "Tragedy of the Commons," set to drop on January 31 via SharpTone Records.
"This song is this record," declares vocalist Ethan Harrison. "The keystone that holds the entire thing together. The culmination of everything we took into the studio and of everything we hoped to accomplish with Tragedy Of The Commons creatively. This is the foundation of the new Great American Ghost".
The track features screeching guitars and a hypnotic hook, with the band's metalcore roots pushing through industrial influences to create pure chaos. The lyrics delve into themes questioning the concept of free will, aligned with the album's broader exploration of societal exploitation.
"Tragedy of the Commons" promises to be Great American Ghost's most politically charged offering to date. Harrison explains, "Rather than write another generally political album, we tried to play into broader themes of hopelessness. Normal people are losing control on a constant basis".
The album, produced by Will Putney, features eleven tracks that combine basement-born hardcore spirit with staggering metallic precision9. The full tracklist includes standout titles such as "Kerosene," "Ghost In Flesh," and "God Is A Loaded Gun".
To support the release, Great American Ghost has announced an album release party at The Shaskeen in Manchester, NH, on January 31, 2025. The event will include a "Screamo Night" featuring local acts performing metalcore, screamo, and post-hardcore covers.
