Horizon Ignited Resleases New Single "Ashes - feat. Jaakko Mäntymaa" from Upcoming Album "Tides"
Finnish melodic death metal powerhouse Horizon Ignited unleashed their latest single "Ashes - feat. Jaakko Mäntymaa" on January 17, 2025, marking the fourth and final glimpse into their highly anticipated album "Tides". This release represents a significant milestone for the band, featuring their first-ever guest vocalist, Jaakko Mäntymaa from Marianas Rest.
"Ashes" promises to be the "doomiest song" Horizon Ignited has crafted to date, exploring themes of destruction, renewal, and the finality of judgment1. Singer Okko Solanterä describes the track as a journey "down deep into a dark abyss void of all hope," where "humanity is doomed and all light is gone as the judgement of a mad god falls over the world". The song's heavy, slower tempo paints a depressing and gloomy picture, encapsulated in the haunting lyrics: "None shall be forgiven, no sin will be forgotten. Descend into damnation, eternal suffocation".
The upcoming album "Tides," set for release on February 21, 2025, via Reaper Entertainment, showcases Horizon Ignited's evolution in the melodic death metal scene. Produced by Juho Räihä (Swallow the Sun) at Inka Studio and mixed/mastered by Chris Clancy (Machine Head, Kataklysm), the album promises to redefine the genre's landscape.
Accompanying the single is a cinematic music video directed by the band's own Johannes Mäkinen, marking his second directorial effort following "Welcome To This House Of Hate". Shot over two grueling days in the cold forests of Finland, the video aims to perfectly complement the song's intense atmosphere. To celebrate the release of "Tides," Horizon Ignited has announced three special shows in Finland:
