Machine Head Releases "UNBØUND," Lead Single From Upcoming Album "UNATØNED"
Machine Head, the influential American heavy metal band from Oakland, California, has unveiled their powerful new single "UNBØUND" on February 17, 2025. This track serves as the first glimpse into their highly anticipated eleventh studio album "UNATØNED", set to be released on April 25, 2025, via Nuclear Blast Records.
The new single builds upon the band's rich musical heritage, which includes their Grammy-nominated album "THE BLACKENING" from 2007. "UNBØUND" is described as a masterclass in less-is-more songwriting, focusing on essential elements such as groove, impact, and an arena-sized chorus. This approach reflects the band's evolution and their commitment to pushing creative boundaries while maintaining their signature sound.
Founded in 1991 by vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn, Machine Head has been a driving force in the metal scene for over three decades. The band's current lineup consists of Flynn, bassist Jared MacEachern, drummer Matt Alston, and guitarist Reece Scruggs. "UNBØUND" showcases the band's ability to blend their trademark swagger and groove with the crushing heaviness that has defined their sound since their debut album "BURN MY EYES" in 1994.
"UNATØNED" was written during Machine Head's return to the global festival circuit after an 11-year hiatus, capturing the raw energy of their live performances. The album was recorded between July 2023 and December 2024 at various studios, including Robb Flynn's Jam Room, Sharkbite Studios, and Drop of Sun Recording. Flynn produced the album alongside engineer Zack Ohren, with mixing and mastering handled by Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy at Audioworks UK.
In addition to "UNBØUND", Machine Head has also released another single from the upcoming album titled "THESE SCARS WØN'T DEFINE US". The band's return to the studio and stage follows their 2022 release "OF KINGDOM AND CROWN", which marked a successful comeback after a period of reflection and reinvention.
Machine Head's influence on the metal scene extends beyond their recorded output. They are known for their intense live performances and have been credited as pioneers of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. The band's ability to consistently evolve their sound while maintaining their core identity has earned them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim throughout their career.
As Machine Head prepares to launch "UNATØNED", they are also gearing up for a North American tour with In Flames, Lacuna Coil, and Unearth, set to begin on April 5, 2025, in Oakland, California. This tour, along with the new album, promises to further cement Machine Head's status as one of metal's most enduring and influential acts.
