Marko Hietala Unveils New Single 'Rebel of the North' Ahead of 2025 Album and Finnish Tour
Marko Hietala, the renowned Finnish musician and former Nightwish bassist/vocalist, is set to release his powerful new single "Rebel of the North" on January 8, 2025. This high-energy classic rock anthem serves as a tantalizing preview for Hietala's highly anticipated album "Roses From The Deep," scheduled for release on February 7, 2025, via Nuclear Blast Records.
"Rebel of the North" showcases Hietala's signature blend of melodic hard rock with a contemporary edge. The track features Marko Hietala on bass and vocals, accompanied by an impressive lineup:
- Tuomas Wäinölä on guitar
- Vili Ollila or Bob Engstrand on keyboards
- Anssi Nykänen on drums
Hietala describes the song as a "rocker" with a main riff that "will put you into the Nordics with a slam". He explains that the track is about "reimagining, reinventing, and then gathering yourself into a better new being," emphasizing the importance of not taking oneself for granted to avoid becoming jaded and boring.
"Roses From The Deep" promises to deliver a unique blend of dark, introspective lyricism and soaring, cinematic soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from myth, nature, and the human experience, Hietala has crafted an album that transcends genres, incorporating elements of progressive rock, folk, and symphonic metal.
To celebrate the release of "Roses From The Deep," Marko Hietala will embark on a tour across Finland. The confirmed tour dates are:
- February 7, 2025: Lahti, Finland - Finlandia Klubi
- February 8, 2025: Kuopio, Finland - Sawohouse Underground

- February 14, 2025: Tampere, Finland - Olympia-kortteli

"Roses From The Deep" marks Hietala's first major project since his critically acclaimed "Pyre Of The Black Heart" in 2020. The album represents a significant milestone in Hietala's career, following his departure from Nightwish in January 2021.
