Massacre Returns to Death Metal Roots with New Track 'Fear Of The Unknown' from Upcoming Album 'Necrolution'

Legendary death metal pioneers Massacre are set to release their highly anticipated new single "Fear Of The Unknown" on November 8, 2024, as the lead track from their forthcoming album "Necrolution," via Agonia Records. This release marks a triumphant return to the band's raw, uncompromising roots that helped shape the death metal genre in its infancy.

"Fear Of The Unknown" features the powerhouse lineup of Kam Lee (vocals), Mike Borders (bass), Jonny Pettersson and Rogga Johansson (guitars), and Jon Rudin (drums). The track promises to deliver a blistering assault of old-school death metal, characterized by Lee's iconic guttural vocals, punishing riffs, and relentless drumming that harkens back to the genre's golden era.

Produced by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio, "Necrolution" aims to recreate the raw, organic sound of late '80s and early '90s death metal. Swanö, known for his work with Edge of Sanity and Bloodbath, brings his expertise in capturing the essence of classic death metal to Massacre's latest offering.

Kam Lee, often credited as the originator of the death metal vocal style, commented on the new material: "With 'Fear Of The Unknown,' we're not just paying homage to our roots; we're rekindling the very flames that ignited the death metal scene. This track embodies the visceral energy and unrelenting brutality that defined the genre's inception."

The album artwork for "Necrolution," created by renowned artist Wes Benscoter (Slayer, Nile, Kreator), perfectly complements the music's themes of cosmic horror and existential dread. Benscoter's visually striking imagery promises to be a fitting visual representation of Massacre's sonic onslaught.

To support the release of "Necrolution," Massacre has announced a North American tour, kicking off on November 26 in Seattle, WA. The tour will feature support from fellow death metal veterans Pessimist, with special guest Sadistic Intent joining for the Tijuana show. The dates are as follows:

November 26 - Seattle, WA - El Corazon
November 27 - Portland, OR - Bossanova Ballroom
November 29 - San Francisco, CA - DNA Lounge
November 30 - Los Angeles, CA - 1720
December 1 - Tijuana, MX - Foro Nebraska (with Sadistic Intent)

Massacre's influence on the death metal genre cannot be overstated. Formed in 1984, the band played a crucial role in shaping the Florida death metal scene alongside acts like Death and Morbid Angel. Their 1991 debut album "From Beyond" is widely regarded as a genre classic, and with "Necrolution," the band aims to recapture that same intensity and innovation.

"Fear Of The Unknown" and the entire "Necrolution" album represent more than just a new release; they signify a resurgence of the primal energy that birthed death metal. As the genre continues to evolve, Massacre stands as a testament to the enduring power of old-school death metal, proving that the pioneers can still deliver crushing, relevant material that stands toe-to-toe with their contemporary counterparts.

Fans can pre-order "Necrolution" now through Agonia Records' website, with various limited edition vinyl variants and exclusive merchandise bundles available. With "Fear Of The Unknown," Massacre is poised to remind the world why they remain one of death metal's most revered and influential acts.
