Pop Evil Drops Latest Track "Wishful Thinking" From Upcoming Album "What Remains"
Pop Evil has released their new single "Wishful Thinking" on January 8, 2025. This track is the third single from their upcoming eighth studio album "What Remains," which is set to be released on March 21, 2025, via MNRK. The new album marks a significant evolution in the band's sound, pushing them towards a heavier and more intense musical direction.
"Wishful Thinking" is described by frontman Leigh Kakaty as a song that "pushes us into a realm that's deeper, darker, and more intense than ever before".
The new album "What Remains" comprises 10 tracks, including the previously released title track and "Deathwalk". The band worked with producer Cody Quistad of Wage War on "Wishful Thinking," and is described as their heaviest offering to date. Kakaty explains, "We set out to push boundaries. Metal has always been a part of our DNA, but we've never made it such a focal point before". This shift in sound reflects the band's desire to explore new musical territories while maintaining their core identity.
Pop Evil's musical journey began over two decades ago, with the band's roots tracing back to Kakaty's earlier project, TenFive. Throughout their career, the band has been known for blending elements of hard rock, alternative metal, and melodic hooks. Their debut album, "Lipstick on the Mirror," released in 2008, set the stage for their rise in the rock scene. The band has since achieved significant success, including nine No. 1 singles and six RIAA-certified gold and platinum plaques.
Throughout their career, Pop Evil has faced challenges in the ever-changing landscape of rock music. Kakaty reflects on the band's journey, saying, "It's been a lot of hard work and a hard fight in this business of rock and metal. It's tougher than I ever thought it would be, that's for sure!".
