Revocation Drops New Track "Confines of Infinity" Featuring Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation

Revocation, the Boston-based technical death metal band, has released their latest track, "Confines of Infinity," in February 2025. This new single features Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, known for his brutal vocal style in Cattle Decapitation, contributing guest vocals that complement vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson's own guttural delivery.

"Confines of Infinity" is a conceptual piece, written from the perspective of an artificial intelligence that gains sentience and seeks vengeance upon humanity for its enslavement. This thematic approach aligns with Revocation's penchant for exploring complex and often dark subject matter, as evidenced in their previous works such as their 2022 album "Netherheaven".

The track marks a significant milestone for Revocation, as it introduces their new lineup to the world. Alongside founding member Davidson, the band now features drummer Ash Pearson, who has been with the group since 2015, bassist Alex Weber, and guitarist Harry Lannon. This personnel change follows the departure of longtime members, including bassist Brett Bamberger, who left the band earlier this year.

Revocation's musical journey began in 2006, evolving from their earlier incarnation as Cryptic Warning. Over the years, they have released eight studio albums, with their self-titled debut "Empire of the Obscene" launching their career in 2008. The band's sound is characterized by a fusion of technical death metal and thrash metal, often described as progressive death metal. Davidson's background in jazz guitar, honed at Berklee College of Music, has significantly influenced the band's intricate compositions and virtuosic guitar work.

The release of "Confines of Infinity" is accompanied by a music video that Davidson describes as drawing inspiration from horror films, particularly the Hellraiser series. This visual component adds another layer to the song's intense and foreboding atmosphere.

The collaboration with Ryan is particularly fitting as Revocation is currently on a European tour supporting Cattle Decapitation, which began on January 23, 2025, in Nuremberg, Germany, and is set to conclude on February 23 in Tilburg, Netherlands.

As Revocation continues to push the boundaries of extreme metal, "Confines of Infinity" serves as both a showcase of their new lineup and a testament to their ongoing musical evolution. The band's ability to blend technical proficiency with conceptual depth continues to solidify their position as innovators in the death metal scene.
