Savage Lands Releases New Track "Out of Breath" Featuring Lord of the Lost and Chloe Trujillo
On December 10, 2024, Savage Lands, the artist-run environmental non-profit heavy metal project, released their latest single "Out of Breath." The track features powerful collaborations with Chris Harms and Pi Stoffers of Lord of the Lost, as well as Chloe Trujillo, adding a dynamic blend of vocals and instrumentation to this intense and thought-provoking song. The single is part of their upcoming debut album Army of the Trees, set for release on February 15, 2025, via Season of Mist.
"Out of Breath" serves as a rallying cry against environmental destruction and a stark reminder of humanity's impact on the planet. The song's lyrics, such as "We’re out of breath / We choke before our eyes," reflect the urgency of addressing ecological collapse. The band describes the track as a representation of "the emptiness left behind when everything has been destroyed," tying its themes to their mission of preserving ecosystems.
The single is marked by chest-pounding double bass kicks from Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and chiseled riffs by guitarist Sylvain Demercastel. Chloe Trujillo's ethereal vocals and Chris Harms' visceral growls add emotional depth to the song, creating a haunting yet powerful auditory experience.
"Out of Breath" was one of the first tracks written for Army of the Trees during sessions at LA’s Daufembach Studio. The album features contributions from various metal heavyweights, including Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) and John Tardy (Obituary), further emphasizing Savage Lands' collaborative spirit.
Founded in 2022 by Dirk Verbeuren and Sylvain Demercastel, Savage Lands is more than just a band—it's a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental activism. All proceeds from their music go directly toward preservation projects, including reforestation efforts in Costa Rica. To date, Savage Lands has preserved over 100,000 square feet of rainforest and planted more than 11,000 trees with the help of 1,200 volunteers.
