Soilwork Unveils New Single "Spirit Of No Return," Ushering in a Heavier Era

Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork has released their new single "Spirit Of No Return" in October 2024. This marks the band's first new music since their latest studio album, "Övergivenheten," which was released in August 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"Spirit Of No Return" explores themes of belonging and the dangers of abandoning one's true self in the pursuit of fitting in. Frontman Björn 'Speed' Strid described the track as a "fierce reminder of the past, but also an introduction of the new SOILWORK era, where we've taken the thrashier early days and dressed it in a new heavier suit."

The release signifies a new direction for Soilwork, blending their earlier thrash-influenced style with a heavier sound. This evolution in their musical approach aims to bridge the gap between their roots and their current artistic vision.

In support of their recent musical endeavors, Soilwork is scheduled to embark on a European tour in October. The band will be sharing the stage with fellow metal acts IN FLAMES and ARCH ENEMY, though this tour is not exclusively dedicated to promoting "Spirit Of No Return."
