SOM Unveils New Single "Give Blood," Announces Upcoming Album "Let The Light In"
On December 2, 2024, alternative post-rock/metal band SOM released their new single "Give Blood," accompanied by an official music video. The track serves as the lead single from their upcoming third full-length album "Let The Light In," set to release on March 14, 2025, via Pelagic Records.
"Give Blood" showcases SOM's signature "doom pop" sound, blending atmospheric textures with post-metal intensity. The song reflects on post-pandemic kindness and societal behavior. Vocalist and guitarist Will Benoit explains, "It's a sort of post-pandemic reflection on kindness and how we treat one another. The idea came while I was laying on a table, actually giving blood".
The music video, directed by Alex Pace, features compelling visuals that complement the song's themes. "Let The Light In" marks a significant evolution for SOM, described as simultaneously their catchiest and heaviest record to date.
SOM, comprised of members from Constants, Junius, and Caspian, continues to push boundaries in their genre, balancing gritty riffs with airy vocal lines. "Give Blood" is now available on major streaming platforms, with pre-orders for "Let The Light In" open on the band's official website.
