SpiritWorld Releases New Track "Oblivion" Featuring Zach Blair and Sgah'gahsowáh Ahead of "Helldorado" Album

SpiritWorld, the Las Vegas-based metallic hardcore band, has unveiled their latest single "Oblivion" on February 19, 2025, marking the third release from their upcoming album "Helldorado". The track features notable guest appearances, including a blistering guitar solo by Zach Blair of Rise Against and powerful vocals from Sgah'gahsowáh of Blackbraid.

Founded by Stu Folsom, SpiritWorld emerged in 2017 as a musical outlet for his love of punk, outlaw country, and metal. The band's unique sound, described as "death Western," blends elements of thrash, old-school death metal, and hardcore, drawing inspiration from artists like Slayer, Sepultura, and Bolt Thrower.

"Oblivion" showcases SpiritWorld's signature style, combining thrashing hardcore with Wild West aesthetics and supernatural horror themes. Folsom describes the song as having "a great mid-tempo headbanger groove" reminiscent of early Obituary and Six Feet Under records.

"Helldorado," set for release on March 21, 2025, via Century Media Records, will be SpiritWorld's third full-length album. It follows their acclaimed 2022 release "Deathwestern" and their 2020 debut "Pagan Rhythms". The new album promises to showcase the band's evolving sound, featuring a diverse range of styles including metallic hardcore blitzes, country-punk stomps, and even a wistful, finger-picked lament, continuing to expand Folsom's vision of the American West as a hellish frontier, forming part of their ambitious "deathwestern trifecta".

SpiritWorld's music is closely tied to Folsom's writing, with their albums serving as soundtracks to his horror Western stories. This multimedia approach has garnered attention from notable figures in the metal world, including Exodus/Slayer guitarist Gary Holt and former Sepultura/current Soulfly leader Max Cavalera.

As SpiritWorld continues to push boundaries in the metal scene, Folsom remains committed to authenticity and creative exploration. He states, "This record, more so than the last two, I think you hear way more fearlessness and confidence in the choices... The stench of being genuine is beautiful".
