Stray From The Path Releases "Kubrick Stare," Their First Single Under SharpTone Records

Stray From The Path has unveiled their latest single "Kubrick Stare", marking their debut release under SharpTone Records. The track, which dropped on February 5, 2025, delivers the band's characteristic fusion of intense instrumentation and pointed social commentary, examining the phenomenon of digital desensitization.

Director Anthony Altamura's accompanying music video powerfully reinforces the song's examination of how continuous online exposure deadens our emotional responses. The track's title cleverly references Stanley Kubrick's iconic cinematographic technique of portraying characters' descent into madness, drawing a parallel with the vacant expressions of individuals consuming disturbing online content. Guitarist Tom Williams provides insight into this theme, describing how persistent exposure to online atrocities has created a widespread emotional numbness.

Under the guidance of acclaimed producer Will Putney, known for collaborations with Body Count and Knocked Loose, "Kubrick Stare" maintains the band's commitment to delivering impactful, message-driven music. The song's recurring line, "Oh, you traumatized? Just walk it off?", perfectly captures society's desensitized reaction to online horrors, emphasizing the growing divide between witnessing trauma and processing its emotional impact.

While mainstream publications like Pitchfork and Rolling Stone have yet to weigh in, the single has resonated strongly within metal circles. Metal Injection praised its forceful impact, while The Rock Pit highlighted the band's renewed collaboration with longtime producer Will Putney. The track's placement on Spotify's "All New Metal - Top 66 Songs" playlist indicates strong listener engagement.

Following the single's release, Stray From The Path will embark on a European tour alongside Spiritbox, featuring a notable performance at Alexandra Palace in North London on February 13, 2025. This tour builds upon momentum generated by their pandemic-era album "Euthanasia," which uniquely incorporated fan input through Twitch streaming sessions during its creation.
