The Great Old Ones Release New Single "Under the Sign of Koth" from Upcoming Album "Kadath"

On December 19, 2024, French Lovecraftian black metal band The Great Old Ones unveiled their latest single, "Under the Sign of Koth," from their forthcoming album Kadath, set to release on January 24, 2025, via Season of Mist. This track continues the band's tradition of crafting atmospheric and narrative-driven music inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

"Under the Sign of Koth" delves into the journey of Randolph Carter, the protagonist from Lovecraft's novella The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. The song narrates Carter's perilous ascent up the Tower of Koth, where he encounters eldritch horrors under the dreadful sigil of Koth. Vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Guerry describes the track as "a sonic representation of Carter's desperate quest for answers amidst cosmic dread."

Musically, "Under the Sign of Koth" blends haunting melodies with ferocious black metal intensity. The track's intricate guitar work, thunderous drumming, and chilling vocals evoke both awe and terror, immersing listeners in the Dreamlands' surreal and foreboding atmosphere.

Kadath, recorded under the meticulous production of Francis Caste at Studio Sainte-Marthe in Paris, is a conceptual album that explores Lovecraft's Dream Cycle. The album features seven tracks that chronicle Randolph Carter's odyssey through fantastical yet menacing realms in search of the fabled city of Kadath. With its immersive soundscapes and narrative depth, Kadath promises to be a masterful addition to The Great Old Ones' discography.
