The Halo Effect Drops New Single "Cruel Perception"
The Halo Effect released "Cruel Perception" on December 6, 2024, as the third single from their upcoming album "March Of The Unheard". The track showcases the band's signature Gothenburg melodic death metal sound, featuring soaring melodic guitars and powerful harmonies.
"Cruel Perception" originated from guitarist Niclas Engelin's late-night acoustic guitar sessions, eventually evolving into what he describes as a "true melodic death metal anthem." The song demonstrates the band's collaborative approach to songwriting, with each member contributing their unique elements in the studio.
Prior to "Cruel Perception," The Halo Effect released two singles from the upcoming album: "Detonate" in September 2024 and the title track "March of the Unheard" in October 2024. The title track notably features collaboration with the Gothenburg marching band "Göta Lejon," adding a unique dimension to their sound.
"March Of The Unheard" represents a confident evolution of the band's sound, with guitarists Niclas Engelin and Jesper Strömblad taking lead roles in the songwriting process. The album features twelve tracks plus bonus content, including previously released songs like "Not Yet Broken" and "Path Of Fierce Resistance."
Formed in 2019, The Halo Effect emerged from the members' shared history in the Swedish metal scene, particularly their connections to In Flames. The band's name draws inspiration from Rush's song "Halo Effect" from their "Clockwork Angels" album. Their debut album "Days Of The Lost" made history by becoming the first debut metal album to top the Swedish charts in its first week of release.
The "Halos Over Europe 2025" tour will commence on January 16 in Copenhagen. The tour represents the band's first headlining run, featuring support from industrial metal act PAIN and rising Finnish melodic death metal band BLOODRED HOURGLASS.
