The Old Dead Tree Releases "Story of My Life" from New Album "Second Thoughts"
French dark progressive metal band The Old Dead Tree has released "Story of My Life" as part of their new album "Second Thoughts," which came out on December 6, 2024, via Season of Mist Records.
"Story of My Life" explores themes of regret and reflection. Vocalist Manuel Munoz explains: "In the beginning the song was just about regret. It comes down on releasing the EP 'The End' and soon after, I was already thinking: 'can I take back what I just said?' After that I started with that sentence and I built a story around it about people who regret things."
The track showcases The Old Dead Tree's signature blend of progressive metal with gothic influences. While specific production details for "Story of My Life" are not provided, the album as a whole features drums recorded at Vamacara Studio in France, with other instruments recorded at various locations.
"Story of My Life" is described as sounding like it could be from a "100% gothic metal band's arsenal," highlighting the band's versatility in incorporating different metal subgenres throughout the album.
