We Are the Catalyst Unleash "Parasite" from New Album "Friction"
Swedish band We Are The Catalyst has released "Parasite," the title track from their new EP, on November 29, 2024. This release coincides with their fifth studio album "Friction," which also dropped at the same time, and features the song "Parasite" among its fourteen diverse tracks.
"Friction" represents a bold evolution in the band's sound, combining modern rock with sci-fi soundscapes and dramatic movie soundtrack elements. The album showcases the band's signature blend of rock ferocity and pop catchiness, while exploring new sonic territories.
The band has taken an innovative approach to releasing music in 2024, choosing to release a new track every three weeks. As guitarist Kenny Boufadene explains, "We have hundreds of songs just lying around because you're not 'supposed' to release music that often. And why? Because it's not how you do things? Who cares?"
"Friction" reflects both global tensions and the band's independent spirit, with vocalist Cat Fey noting that the album title represents "what we see going on in the world around us, and the way that our decisions as people and band not willing to fit in, going our own way, causes friction."
The band has partnered with German booking agent Dr Music Booking and plans to tour extensively in 2025 to support the album. These will be their first live performances since 2019.
